Podcasting:
Production research and consultancy
With over a decade of experience in podcasting, I bring a comprehensive skill set in production, hosting, and research that has driven the success of various projects in academic and public-facing spheres. My journey in podcasting began with a vision to merge academia with engaging, accessible content, and over the years, I’ve co-produced and hosted highly regarded shows that resonate with diverse audiences, from cinephiles to research enthusiasts. As a co-host of The Cinematologists Podcast,(with Prof. Neil Fox), I produce work at the intersection scholarship, popular criticism, and fandom, establishing a platform praised internationally for its thoughtful discussions and interdisciplinary insights. Over the years, I’ve partnered with esteemed institutions such as the BFI, MUBI, and Sight and Sound, producing content that bridges academic rigor and public curiosity.
As a consultant, I offer tailored services for academia and private companies aiming to create podcasts that disseminate research, ideas, and innovations effectively. My approach prioritises strategic planning, branding, and audience engagement, helping clients craft a unique voice that resonates with their target audience. I provide guidance on the practicalities of setting up a podcast—from equipment and software selection to structuring episodes and refining storytelling techniques. With experience in managing both solo and collaborative projects, I’m well-equipped to support teams in academia and industry who seek to make a meaningful impact through the growing medium of podcasting.
I am currently working with the CEO of Mixrift Bobby Voicu who are developing mixed reality technology for gaming and a host of other applications. We are currently working on format and content ideas which will explore the potentials and implications of mixed reality in an ever changing landscape of integrated mediation experiences.
My expertise spans every stage of podcast production. From conceptual development and audience research to recording, editing, and post-production, I have a hands-on approach that ensures both technical and narrative quality. I’m adept at creating compelling scripts and formats tailored to specific audiences, ensuring complex ideas are communicated in engaging and accessible ways.
I have run podcasting workshops for Postgraduate students Birkbeck, University of London, and for undergraduates at the University of Nottingham, the University of Brighton and Ravensbourne University.
I currently mentoring students from Ravensbourne University on their podcast development as part of their Self-Employment Entrepreneurship Diversity Scheme (SEEDS)
